Take your needle, my child, and work at your pattern; it will come out a rose by and by. Life is like that – one stitch at a time taken patiently and the pattern will come out all right like the embroidery. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes
it’s such a lovely quote.
then i look at this project i’ve undertaken and think, goodness, that’s a LOT of stitches. a LOT. oy.
this embroidery was originally going to be for the border of a pillow. when i was a little girl, my mother made me a pillow with a few rows of fancy machine stitching on the border. i absolutely loved having a special pillow.
for the longest time now (well, in toddler time), my lil miss has loved this little doll named ginger. i wanted to capture this time and drew this little design to embroider. i’m not sure how well the embroider will take to the heavy duty machine washing that we’ll have to do with pillowcases over time though. so, i think this will become a special pillow for her little chair. or maybe it’ll be framed? i don’t know.
but i have a lot of time to think about what i want to do with it. because, that’s a LOT of stitching to be done.
